Instrument and Control Technician

Purpose: To execute installation, testing, commissioning and performing the maintenance of various Instrumentation & Control systems & equipment of the Plant. Main Duties and Responsibilities: 3.1. Execute various types of maintenance of the plant Instrumentation & Control systems & equipment including Field instrument for pressure, temperature, flow, level & pressure, Analyzers for conductivity, pH, residual chlorine, turbidity, hydrocarbon (oil analyzer), pneumatic / motor actuated valves, control valves, PLC system, SCADA system, including remote I/O panels & PROFIBUS network, etc according to its respective maintenance manual effectively and in timely manner, including: 3.1.1. Corrective Maintenance 3.1.2. Preventive and scheduled maintenance. 3.1.3. Instrument calibration 3.1.4. New Equipment installation on as required basis. 3.2. Perform daily routine inspection of plant equipment and record critical parameters as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. 3.3. Report and seek Supervisor/engineer assistance in-case of major control system problems. 3.4. Maintain Equipment register for internal & external calibration of various field & test equipment, calibration schedule, calibration procedure & calibration reports. 3.5. Assist Maintenance Supervisor to request spare parts and consumable materials required for various maintenance activities & participate with Store personnel in inspecting purchased material before acceptance. 3.6. Assist in the root cause analysis and reporting of chronic problems and repeated failures. 3.7. Maintain Equipment history cards. 3.8. Well versed with the Permit To Work (PTW) system and ensure strict compliance with the safety policies & procedures. 3.9. Assist Maintenance Supervisor in developing the department O & M Budget and capital equipment budget. 3.10. Well versed in using various testing & measuring instruments such as Multi meter, Calibrator, Signal Generators for simulation, etc. 3.11. Able to read & comprehend Control philosophy, control system architecture, Ladder & Logic diagrams and Equipment vendor manuals. 3.12. Ensure & practice good housekeeping standards at all times. 3.13. Perform other related duties as required by Maintenance supervisor from time to time. Workplace Environment: Plant environment. Academic Qualification: Instrumentation technician Trade Certificate from a reputed Industrial Training Institute or Technical Diploma in Instrumentation / Electronics & communication Engineering. Technical and special Skills: Read and write English language, computer literacy, software programming, practical knowledge of Instrumentation & Control equipment maintenance and ability to read & comprehend Control philosophy, control system architecture, Ladder & Logic diagrams, etc. Exposure to MV / LV electrical systems & equipment is desirable.
